Where to get?

Surrounding world is full of different objects and items. Most of them can be scraped for materials. All you need is to approach a building and open special menu. You will be able to scrap a building for resources.

Your weapon can also be scrapped. That’s why you shouldn’t just drop you weapon if you don’t need it. Better scrap it and get benefit.

There are no resource cap values and limits. You can collect as many of them as you wish. If you have 300 Aluminum – that’s great, but if you have 500 – that’s much better. You never know how many resources you will need in future.

Resource Types

There are no dedicated materials for crafting or building. All of them can be required for any action. For example you may need Steel for modifying your weapon. You may also need it for building a siege turel, constructing a house and so on. Resource management in Fallout 4 is very important. If you don’t have enough materials you will have to select and plan your actions.

How do I add a new material that isn't on the list?

Members can’t add materials directly. That’s because it requires some manipulations with the database. You can specify what you wish to add in the comments and I will add the material :)

Antiseptic is also a material too can get from breaking items down. I know its not for building but it is for making stimpacks and such.

I have found a huge list of all Junk items and their materials. I am updating the database now. It will take some time but at the end there will be a huge list of where it's possible to take all materials.
